From Broke Single Mama in Nursing School to Being Financially Free

Hey Y'all! I'm so glad you're here! My name is Ashlee and I am mama to a little sasshole named Lily. I am the proud owner of Mama with Money, a blog dedicated to empowering moms to take control of their finances. As a single mom and sole provider to my daughter, I know firsthand the challenges that come with managing a household and making ends meet.

I made so many terrible financial decisions in my early twenties. I would just blow every dime I made. After having my daughter, my entire life changed. I realized that I was now responsible for another life and I had to make some lifestyle changes in order to give her everything she deserved. Flash forward a year, I was no longer engaged and found myself a broke single mama struggling to work my way through my first year of nursing school. I was on food stamps, making minimum payments on everything. I also had WIC and Medicaid for my daughter. It was one of the hardest times in my life, but thankfully I had an amazing support system in my family and I have always been hard working and determined. I got a job part-time as a nurse extern and began working as many hours as I could. I educated myself through watching Youtube videos, listening to podcasts on my way to work, and reading all of the personal finance books I could get my hands on. All of my hard work and prayers finally paid off, and when my daughter was 2 years old I graduated nursing school and passed the NCLEX. I secured my dream job in the emergency department and began working 60 plus hours a week during the pandemic to maximize my earning potential. Since then, I have been working on moving up in the nursing world and making moves to gain more money so that I can continue my journey to being financially free.

I am currently still working as an Emergency RN, which tends to be a demanding and emotionally taxing job. While I am grateful for the opportunity to serve others, my ultimate goal is to achieve financial freedom. I find myself thinking that there has to be more to life than working long hours away from home. I want to spend more time with my daughter and less time in the hospital.

So instead of daydreaming about what could be, I created Mama with Money. Through my blog, I share tips, tricks, and strategies to help other mamas achieve financial freedom and take control of their finances, no matter their current situation. Whether it's budgeting, saving, or investing, I believe that with the right tools and mindset, anyone can achieve their financial goals.

I am passionate about helping other moms break free from the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle and achieve financial stability. I believe every woman should be able to stand on her own two feet and be financially independent. With Mama with Money, I hope to inspire and empower other women to realize their potential and realize there is a place for them in the finance world. Mamas really can have it all!

Subscribe to join me on this journey, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences with you.

XOXO,

Ashlee
